Professional Bio:
I earned a B.A. in both Spanish and Linguistics and a Ph.D. in Spanish Linguistics with a designated emphasis in Second Language Acquisition from the University of California, Davis. I am currently an Assistant Professor of Spanish Linguistics at the University of California, Merced.
Area of Expertise:
My research has focused on sociolinguistic issues affecting Spanish speakers, particularly Mexican Americans in the United States. I have worked on doctor–patient interactions, Spanish–English code-switching and teaching Spanish as a heritage language.
