Professional Bio:
Lisa Rofel is an anthropologist who has written many books and articles on contemporary China. Originally inspired by China's twentieth century history of revolutions, Rofel's work addresses questions of social and economic inequality. Rofel is also co-coordinator of the California Scholars for Academic Freedom.
Area of Expertise:
Contemporary China, especially China's transition from socialism to capitalism, gender and sexuality in China, and grassroots activism. I would also say I can speak to questions of academic freedom.
